Overview
A leading global law firm is seeking a mid–senior level associate to join its life sciences patent litigation practice. The team represents pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies in high-stakes disputes, including Hatch-Waxman litigation, biologics disputes, and related regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support all phases of U.S. patent litigation, with a focus on life sciences matters, including pleadings, discovery, claim construction, and trial

• Handle cases arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act, including Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) litigation

• Work on biologics-related disputes under the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA)

• Draft and review motions, briefs, and technical submissions relating to infringement, validity, and enforceability

• Collaborate closely with scientific experts in fields such as molecular biology, chemistry, pharmacology, or immunology

• Conduct and defend depositions, including expert witnesses

• Participate in trial preparation and trial teams in bench and jury trials

• Coordinate litigation strategy with regulatory considerations involving the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

• Work with global teams on parallel proceedings and cross-border disputes

Candidate Profile

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to at least one U.S. state bar

• Typically 4–7+ years of patent litigation experience, with significant exposure to life sciences matters

• Experience with Hatch-Waxman / ANDA litigation strongly preferred; BPCIA experience is a plus

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a life sciences discipline (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related field)

• Strong understanding of complex scientific concepts and ability to translate them into persuasive legal arguments

• Experience with expert discovery, depositions, and motion practice

• Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office is a plus

• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills

• Ability to manage multiple matters and work effectively in a collaborative environment
